Vrijheid, wat betekent het voor het voor jou?
Voor mij is vrijheid hardlopen met wind mee door de duinen, ’s ochtends vroeg op staan terwijl ik tot twaalf uur uit zou kunnen slapen, in de auto verschrikkelijke disneypopmuziek luisteren op volume oorpijn en keihard meezingen totdat m’n stem overslaat, een vast bedrag op een spaarrekening waarmee ik op iedere willekeurig moment m’n tassen kan pakken en een paar weken er tussen uit kan, tot zes uur ’s nachts Friends kijken, gewoon omdat er niemand is die tegen me zegt dat het niet mag, kunnen zeggen wat ik wil zonder daar onzeker van te worden, een joggingbroek na een hele dag in een strakke skinny jeans..
Ik denk dat we blij mogen zijn dat we in een vrij land wonen. Dat we zelf mogen kiezen met wie we trouwen, dat we de mogelijkheid hebben te studeren en te werken. Dat we niet iedere dag bangen hoeven te zijn voor een bom op ons huis.
Natuurlijk is er die terreurdreiging, nog steeds, maar het is nu niet dat er de hele dag gevechtsvliegtuigen boven ons hoofd cirkelen en daar moeten we onszelf gelukkig mee prijzen.
Er is zoveel waar we dankbaar voor mogen zijn…
