Na welgeteld 30 minuten slapen (op de bank voor een toch ietwat saaie documentaire op discovery channel) sprong ik maandagochtend om half vier bij mijn veel te lieve vriend in de auto. In 45 minuten waren we op Schiphol en vijf minuten later vond ik Ashley. Het was tegen half vijf en de lucht werd al lichter. In mijn hoofd was het nog steeds zondag. Schiphol was eigenlijk veel te druk voor het tijdstip, maar na een caramel frappuccino bij Starbucks (ja heus, dat krijg ik om half vijf ’s ochtends weg) kwam er al wat meer leven in mij. Twee uur later zaten we in het vliegtuig en stegen we op.
Drie uur later op ons horloge, maar vier uur later toen we die aan de Griekse tijd hadden aangepast, waren we op Zakynthos. Een leuk en op dat moment vooral warm eilandje ongeveer ter hoogte van Sicilie aan de westkust van Griekenland. Na een taxiritje The Greek Way werden we afgeleverd bij ons hotel Kalimera Koukla.
Op zoek naar een supermarkt ontdekten we dat het strand eigenlijk heel erg dichtbij was en dat het echt verschrikkelijk mooi was. Of nou ja, het strand zelf was niet veel bijzonders, maar alles stond zo mooi in bloei en de zee was natuurlijk prachtig mooi blauw.
Het zwembad was NOG dichterbij en daar hadden we gratis WIFI. Ja daar ging m’n goede voornemen, na drie uur vakantie al gestrand. Maar ik zag het nut er eigenlijk toch ook niet helemaal van in.. Waarom afstand van iets nemen waar je gelukkig van wordt? Okee klinkt heel dramatisch. Komt er op neer, WIFI signaal kwam binnen en was niet sterk genoeg om het te negeren ;-)
En toen was het tijd om ons klaar te maken voor een heerlijk avondmaal. Niet echt op een Grieks tijdstip, het was pas 18.00u, maar na die ‘reis’ die toch eigenlijk best wel iets vermoeiender was dan je misschien zult denken waren we er best wel aan toe.. En zoals het dan twee meisjes met mooie camera’s betaamd worden er eerst heel erg veel foto’s gemaakt.
En wat eet je dan in Griekenland? Juist ja Pasta Carbornara ! Zo ontiegelijk. verschrikkelijk. lekker.
En om een uurtje of negen, na die heerlijke vette pasta, was het tijd voor een lekker fout filmpje en nog voordat het dinsdag werd waren onze ogen gesloten en onze snaveltjes toe ;-)
