Dit alles had ik natuurlijk 100% aan mezelf te danken. Ik wist immers dat ik nog maar enkele luttele procenten aan lege ruimte over had en dat kan voor een computer, hoe geniaal ook, nooit goed zijn. Ik vertikte het om dingen weg te gooien en was te zuinig om een goede externe hardeschijf te kopen.
Vorige week kwam mijn vader thuis met een schattig klein wit Samsung harddiskje waar ik al maanden naar keek. Toen moest ik hem wel kopen en dat was maar goed ook.
Dit kleine schattige witte mormel dat in z’n witte hoesje erg veel weg van een uit de kluiten gewassen witte Blackberry Bold, heeft mijn leven, mijn MacBook gered. Inmiddels is nog maar 1/3 schijfruimte in gebruik en draait m’n Maccie weer op volle toeren. M’n harddisk bewaak ik met mijn leven, want daar staan dus niet alleen al m’n films en muziek op, maar ook al mijn gemaakte foto’s sinds 2002 (en dat zijn er heel veel!) en al mijn documenten geschreven sinds 1998 (en dat zijn er dus ontelbaar veel).
Hierop staan geheime dagboeken die met wachtwoordjes zijn beveiligd (waarvan ik de helft helaas niet meer weet), hierop staan schoolopdrachten sinds de eerste klas van de middelbareschool, hierop staan tijdschriften die ik met een vriendinnetje maakte in Groep 7 van de basisschool. Hierop staan de eerste foto’s die ik zevenenhalf jaar op mijn weblog publiceerde, hierop staan foto’s van al mijn vakanties sinds 2002. Italie, Oostenrijk, Griekenland, Engeland, Portugal, Frankrijk, Spanje, I’ve got it all covered.
Safe to say, dit schattige kleine witte apparaatje is mijn leven. Ik heb hem dan ook heel toepasselijk de naam “LIFE” gegeven. Ik denk namelijk dat als ik toevallig een terrorist geweest zou zijn en de CIA op dit apparaatje zou stuiten, zij dit als een enorme doorbraak zouden zien.

(Natuurlijk ben ik niet zo stom om mijn documenten alleen op dit fragiele schijfje op te slaan, het grote netwerkmonster hier thuis heeft stiekem ook nog wel een backup! Ik ben dan misschien wel blond, maar heb genoeg drama’s meegemaakt om te begrijpen dat zo’n schijf ook niet onoverwinnelijk is!)

Wat grappig dat je dat allemaal nog hebt, zoveel! Leuk om terug te kijken. :) Op mijn vorige laptop staat nog heel veel, maar het beeld doet het maar 5sec. ofzo en dan gaat die weer uit, dus kan er niks van afhalen! :(
Ik vraag mij trouwens af of ik op deze laptop wel een back-up heb? Hehe! :p

Ik moet zelf een nieuwe laptop aanschaffen. En ik wilde dus ook de Macbook Air. Ik kwam op het idee omdat ik dat op jouw blog had gezien. Ik heb zelf ook altijd last van mijn nek en schouders. Maar computerkenners hebben me hem afgeraden, vanwege de schijfruimte.
Nu toch maar even kijken dus, naar dit samsung harddiskje. Wat is tenslotte fijner, een gezonde nek of een zware laptop waar alles op kan.
Ik vraag me af, als je nog niet echt veel met macbooks gewerkt hebt, is het dan wel een zinvolle keus? Er zitten natuurlijk ook allemaal functies op waar de gewone sterfeling nog niks van af weet.
