In mijn geval.. Die MacBook Air in mijn zwart leren Marc by Marc Jacobs tas die me werkelijk overal goed gezelschap houdt. Die iPhone waar ik ongeveer mee vergroeid ben, mijn eigen blonde haren die weliswaar niet in prachtige golven over mijn schouders vallen maar wel puur natuur (oke, met een heel klein likje verf) zijn. Dat figuur dat zonder al te veel moeite in een maatje 36 past, maar wat wel een broek lengte van 34 nodig heeft. Ik heb hersenen die me naar de universiteit hebben gebracht, waar ik ook nog eens voldoendes haal. Mijn ouders houden van me, net als mijn vriendje. Ik heb een leuke broer en zus, heb een paar hele goede vriendinnen. Ik ga met mijn plezier naar mijn werk en oh ja, ik heb zoveel kleding dat ik me vaak meerdere keren per dag verkleed omdat ik sommige dingen anders nooit draag.
Nee, dit is geen zelfverheerlijking, dit is zelfwaardering en ik roep jullie allemaal op het ook eens te proberen. En als je na een grondige blik op je zelf nog steeds niet tevreden bent, werp dan de volgende keer dat je in de supermarkt loopt of in de tram zit eens een blik op je medemens. Is het echt zo erg? Als ik me niet goed voel kijk ik de laatste tijd om me heen en vraag ik mezelf, met hoeveel van deze mensen zou ik willen ruilen? En meestal, meestal zijn dat er maar erg weinig.
